5 skippers de plus au départ !
  La nouvelle a été annoncée ce soir par  Alain Pochon, président du Grand
Pavois, et est ce soir officielle : ils seront  89 skippers au départ de la
Transat 6,50 Charente-Maritime/Bahia  2007.

L’annonce officielle a été faite à 18h50 ce mardi  11 septembre 2007 : ils
seront 89 skippers au départ de cette 16e édition de la  Transat 6,50 Charente-Maritime/Bahia. 5 skippers de plus qui correspondent à 5  balises que Grand Pavois Organisation peut mettre à disposition de cette  Transatlantique hors norme. De 72 partants en 2005, l’organisation a accepté 75  skippers en décembre, puis 84 au printemps pour enfin terminer à 89 partants  afin de répondre au mieux à l’objectif de la Classe Mini : faire participer le  plus de marins possible à cette formidable aventure. Les cinq marins de plus qui  prendront le départ de cette édition anniversaire, puisqu’elle fête les 30 ans  de cette course, sont : Matthieu Cassanas sur Ville de Balaruc les Bains  (n°630), Frédéric Donot sur Surfrider Foundation Europe (n°642), Yves Le Blevec  sur Actual Interim (n°624), Alex Mevay sur Genasun (n°332) et Thomas Coubes sur  Petit citron vert (n°184). Et pour être conforme à la demande des Affaires  Maritimes - soit d’assurer un bateau accompagnateur pour 12 Minis 6,50 en mer -  un bateau accompagnateur supplémentaire prendra également le départ de cette  édition, dimanche 16 septembre prochain. Et ce bateau ne sera pas n’importe  lequel puisque ce sera le 60 pieds monocoque Max Havelaar de Benoît Parnaudeau,  bateau avec lequel il boucla le dernier Vendée Globe 2003/2004. Un bateau que  Benoît met gracieusement à la disposition de l’organisation sur toute la durée  de l’épreuve.

The official announcement has been done at 18:50 Tuesday, September 11th 2007; they will be 89 skippers at the start of the 16th edition of the Transat.

5 more skippers which correspond to 5 more beckons the Grand Pavois Organization is able to give to the race.

From 72 competitors in 2005, the organizer accepted 75 in December then 84 this Spring to end up at 89 in order to respond at best to the Classe Mini objectives: have as many sailors participating to this fantastic adventure.

The 5 additional sailors who will take the start of this Anniverssary edition are : Matthieu Cassanas (no 630), Frederic Donot (no 642), Yves Le Blevec (no 624), Alex Mevay (no 332) and Thomas Coubes (no 184). In order to conform to the Affaires Maritimes demand (1 assistance boat/12 Minis), an extra assistance boat will take the start on Sunday 16th. This will be the 60' mono hull Max Havelaar belonging to Benoit Parneaudeau, with which he did the 2003/04 Vendee Globe.

Benoit is offering the use of his boat for the duration of the race.
